July 4th saw the TTRC notch another top class event on the year's Calendar. With 2010 fast becoming one of the most exciting years of Rallying in TnT ever, it was no surprise that Tobago once again surpassed expectations of competition and excitement. With 25 cars this time around and with foreign guests Harold Morley (BAR) and Bobby Marshall (JAM) added to the mix, the entry list was the largest since Rally Trinidad. With more cars, more spectators, and a fully booked out Turtle Beach Hotel, Rally Tobago is considered to be a definite mainstay on the TTRC calendar.

Once again the weekend kicked off with the cars arriving on the Thursday before so that the teams had all day on Friday to get acquainted with the stage and ...yes the beach and poolside bar. Friday afternoon saw the teams drive through parts of downtown Scarborough and Lowlands in a police led motorcade. The car show was back on at Lowlands Mall outside of Movietowne where the opening ceremony took place. The event was formally opened by Ms. Claudia Groome Duke of the THA and all teams received their numbers and race packages in front of the packed crowd.

Saturday was all out rally mode and although it was bad news for most of the Argentina football fans, it was great news for Powell and Telfer (Shell Helix Ultra / Intercontinental Shipping Mitsubishi Evo IX) who set a great pace in the morning. This was Powell's first outing in the new car which although slightly down on the power he would have liked, had what it took to hold off 2009 winner Barry Mckenzie (Total / Rallymac Mitsubishi Evo VI). With the absence of Lochan due to his crash in Trinidad a few weeks back, Powell knew he simply had to keep it consistent to bring it home for the 3rd time this season.
