Although many people only saw rally cars doing their thing this past weekend, it was a major incorporation of all TnT motorsport. For starters the works behind RT10 involved the efforts of Rawle Mahabir and his team from AutoSport, ensuring that all the venues – Grand Bazaar, Queen’s Park Savannah, Preysal, and Saith Park were set up in time for each of the day’s activities. Cars and the Solodex Team of Devi and Gen Nath, and Colin Khan were responsible for the Marshal Core for the Bronte Stage. Even the TTKA got involved generously lending the safety barriers for the Saith Park Mayor’s Cup. Members of the local Ford Club once again opened the proceedings in Saith Park – an honour they are becoming used to as this being their third time doing the first lap of the course.

A couple of the local motorsporting celebrities were also in attendance. At the Thursday Scrutineering in Grand Bazaar, top dragster Sheldon Bissessar, and local Karting Champion Bridget Singh were present for a few photo ops with special guest 3x British Rally Champion Mark Higgins. Many of the past circuit, drag and rally boys were also out to see the new teams and machines with many of them very surprised at the caliber of teams that had come to Rally Trinidad. This also at a time when some of TnT’s past circuit racers are trying their hand at rallying. Kelvin ‘Tanko’ Baboolal (Circuit/Drag), Christian Bourne (Circuit), and David Coelho (Circuit/Karting) all now sit behind the wheel of rally cars. A major vote of thanks goes out to all the other motorsporting bodies who continue to support the TTRC for Rally Trinidad. RT certainly has become an event that TnT can be proud to host, and it’s growth has been as a result of many hands in the local motorsport community.
